Some see the web as a great way to get your art seen by thousands of additional viewers, but an artist named
Bansky had a better idea. Dressed as a British pensioner, he
installed four of his own pieces of art in New York City's finest museums - the Met, the Museum of Natural History, the Brooklyn Museum, and the MoMA.
As far as I'm concerned, any artist with the following statement deserves to be displayed in these museums:
This historic occasion has less to do with finally being embraced by the fine art establishment and is more about the judicious use of a fake beard and some high strength glue.
As of the time of the article posting on
kottke.org, the pieces at the Met and MoMA had been removed, but the other two pieces remained on display.
